This is just the begining of the journey

I am 40 years old and was just diagnosed with sarcoid last spring. It began with a common cold and cough that both myself and my older daughter had. Only she got better. Mine didn’t seem to want to go away. The cough turned to a wheeze. I couldn’t catch my breath and was thinking asthma and so I made my appointment after the holidays. During this time I was so tired. But it was the holidays. My grandmother was in the hospital. My son was getting ready to have surgery. I was a busy mom and just wrote it off. Who had time to be sick or tired?! The allergist sent me for a routine x-ray and that is when my journey began. The x-rays showed swollen node in my chest and I was sent to an oncologist on the biggest cancer scare of my life!

I had several blood tests, x-rays, CT, MRI PET, Galium, biops, etc etc etc. They all showed “severe inflammation” but were all inconclusive to sarcoidosis or anything else for that matter. None of the tests proved it to be sarcoid and not cancer. I went over and over and over. Talk of another biop came up and I was at the breaking point. They did one final CT and noticed the nodes were shrinking! That ment NO CANCER! It was then I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the nodes, lungs, liver, and sinus. I am also thinking it might be in my heart too but this will probably require….more tests!!

My journey isn’t over. I still have it. My lungs are getting worse it seems. But I am feeling better at the moment. I will take it. Who has time to be sick or tired……………..
