Genetical Sarcoidosis

My name is Diundra and I have been diagnosed with this disease for about five years. My mom had this disease only she had it in her lungs. When I was first diagnosed with this disease my mom had just died. I was told that I probably always had it but due to the stress of the death it was prob. supressed.

To make a long story short I just recently was taken off of the prednisone after being on it for four years. I have had so many illnesses from this disease due to the fact that I have it in my liver, lungs, and skin. I don’t deal with the nodules in the skin as much, however, I have been through quite a bit of everything else. The problem I am having at this moment is my eyes are starting to bother me. It feels like something is in my eye, and the sun does bother me, and aches a little. I get a lot of relief when I put on dark shades even in the house.

This disease is so nerve wrecking and often times has me so stressed out because it’s always something different. Well I don’t have enough room to put all of the things I have gone through since I have had this disease, and since many people don’t know about it I really don’t have anyone that I can talk to. I am concerned because I was told it is more frequent in black females and I have three daughters.

I often find myself crying to my husband and he has to make a lot of sacrifices with his job to go with me to the doctors or to be home with the kids so that I can go to the doctors. Well I hope this will help someone out there who thinks they are all alone. Become a strong believer in God and he will see you through. If it wasn’t for my faith in God, my supportive immediately family, my pastor and church family, I would probably would be in a crazy house or dead.

I weighed 83 pounds in 2004, I had Bell’s Palsy, I learned that I was diabetic, with my sugar being over 600, and yet I am still in the land of the living. Thank you for allowing me to share part of my story and to all that read this God bless you.

When it comes to sarcoidosis, it’s a real shame that the professional medical field can’t stop and think for a moment “let’s listen to the patients!” I remember how I had been repeatedly misdiagnosed for four years before finally every medical test came back abnormal. It all started in 1977. [more..]
