Living with Sarcoidosis

I was diagnosed with sarcoid 8 years ago, it showed up as skin lesions on face and arms. They gave me steroid cream to put on, but it did not make much difference so I stopped using it. Had x rays at time and no effect on lungs at that time. Six months ago I started having breathing difficulties, local GP gave me antibiotics, did not go away, started getting nosebleeds, and coughing up sputum.

GP still thought I had an infection but also arranged for me to see specialist, x rays taken showed slight shadow on 1 lung. Before I could see specialist again had to go to A+e as chest pains became really bad. One of the doctors on was chest specialist, got me onto steroids and nebulizers and settled me down. In hospital for a week and told I had classic pulmanory sarcoidosis Under the specialist and will be weened off steroids and on to something else.

Advice for those with this condition, if you have problems breathing antibiotics will have no effect, get your GP to refer you to a specialist straight away, don’t take no for an answer.
