I kept getting the feeling that congestion was forming in my lungs and I needed to cough to bring it up. This went on for several hours. Around noon time I looked in a mirror after I had coughed and saw my mouth was full of blood. It continued so I was taken to the hospital to see what was wrong. I was given a chest xray and a catscan. The dr. determined I had pnemonia which caused hemopytosis. I was given a strong antibiotic and an inhaler as was told to follow up with my medical dr. The coughing up with a lot of blood only continued for 2 days and then completely stopped. I decided to quit smoking. I had only smoked about 10 years and not heavily all of that time. The last few years I probably smoked about 1 and 1/2 packs of cigarettes a day. I am 50 years old. I went to a lung specialist just to be sure that he agreed with what the emergency room dr. said. Seems he did except he felt the need to schedule another catscan to follow up on the area on the lung which was spotty. Otherwise I am healthy. I am still in shock that this happened as I never heard about this before. Thank you. Comments
