My Best friend

by: Debra on Thu, Sep 20 2007

Nine years ago i met my soul mate but i didnt know it then. nine years later we are finally together he has since been diagnosed with COPD Our lives will never be the same. There are days that he is so exhausted that he doesnt get out of bed. The medication helps sometimes but not all. Being a nurse i know what is in store for him it hurts me to know there is nothing that i can do to make it stop. The hardest part is that he is only 35. I blame myself for wasting some much time being apart and now that we are together we both suffer from health issues. I fear that I will spend my golden years alone without the man that i love more than life. There are days that life is sucked right out of him I try to comfort him and I think I do but when he finally can go to sleep I lay awake and cry because the man of my life is slipping away little by little. I know that there are many people with this disease but i cant help but feel alone, like nobody understands what is happening I hope and pray that one day I will wake up and turn on the TV and see that they have come up with a cure for my man so that he doesnt have to suffer day after day. He has never been able to have kids of his own but I did I regret that they are not his we have missed out on so much in nine years I try like hell to make up for lost time and make sure that we live everyday to the fullest so that whatever is left of his life is filled with happiness and the ut most love.
