Cough by GERD

by: Velma J. on Sat, Nov 24 2007

I have had a constant dry cough that started a couple of years after I quit smoking in 1971. I could only obtain relief by lying down. After many Doctors, I finally gave up about 15 years ago. Last year after being diagnoised with lung cancer and having my upper left lung removed, the cough got worst. Thinking that maybe progress had been made, I contacted an ear, nose and throat office. The young doctor I was assigned to had just finished his residency a month before and I think I was his second patient. He put a tube through my nose and found swelling at the end of my espohogus. I never had heartburn but he prescribed Nexium. One purple pill in the morning and I am cough free all day. Over 30 years it took. Thank you.
